Dr. Tamara Cheshire (Lakota) has worked in higher education for 20 years teaching Native American Studies and Anthropology. She has her doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, Sacramento. Dr. Cheshire has published several articles and chapters about the resiliency of Native American students and their families; including her dissertation entitled: Barriers & Bridges: American Indian Community College Student Resiliency and Success. She is a co-founder of the Sacramento Native American Higher Education Collaborative (SNAHEC). Currently Dr. Cheshire is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Folsom Lake College and also teaches anthropology at California State University, Sacramento and Sierra College.
