Crystal Martinez-Alire

Dr. Crystal Martinez-Alire (Miwok) is currently working as faculty member/counselor within the higher educational system for the Los Rios Community College District.  Dr. Martinez-Alire is currently a board member for the Elk Grove Unified School District, and is appointed to California School Board Association (CSBA) to serve as Director-at-large (American Indian). Her professional experience includes working previously at Sierra College and California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) systems as she taught classes at both campuses.  Dr. Martinez-Alire has also worked within the Native American Studies Department at the University of California, Davis.  She has received her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from California State University, Sacramento as well as her Masters’ in career and school counseling. Her previous professional experience also includes working within a Tribal TANF program supporting education and employment/career development for Native American families. Her past research focuses on tribal leadership and the impact of education within California Native American communities.
